Diagnostic guide

Know when to call us out.

Recognise these patterns early — the difference between a repair and a replacement is often weeks.

  • Active leak during or after a storm

Water inside the home during or after a storm is an emergency. Same-day tarping stops interior damage while we schedule the full assessment and insurance documentation.

  • Hail tracked through your zip code

Hail impact is invisible from the ground. The mat bruising it leaves shows as a leak months later—not immediately—and insurance filing deadlines do not wait for the damage to show.

  • Adjuster appointment on the calendar

Our photo documentation before your adjuster visit gives you a measured, written scope. Adjusters working from a driveway estimate routinely miss what is only visible on the roof surface.

FAQ

Common questions

Should I file a claim before or after a roofer inspects?

Get an independent inspection first. A claim that is denied can still appear on your property insurance history, and sometimes the damage is genuinely below your deductible. A good contractor will tell you honestly whether filing is worth it.

How long do I have to file a hail claim?

It depends on your policy and your state. Many policies require notice within one year of the date of loss, and some set shorter windows for wind and hail. Read your policy, and get suspected storm damage inspected promptly rather than waiting for next season.

What does hail damage actually look like?

On asphalt shingles it shows as circular bruises where the mat is fractured under the surface, along with granule loss that exposes the black substrate. It is frequently invisible from the ground, which is why damage goes unclaimed until the roof starts leaking years later.

Will the roofer handle the claim paperwork for me?

A contractor can document the damage, but negotiating a claim on your behalf is generally the job of a licensed public adjuster rather than a roofer, and the rules vary by state. Be wary of anyone who offers to handle your claim for you.
